We were thrilled to welcome so many of our families to Longleaf Center on April 8th for a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party! The event wasn't just about observing a rare celestial phenomenon; it was about coming together as a community to celebrate our shared wonder of the natural world. We believe that by experiencing the magic of the solar eclipse firsthand, we deepen our understanding of and appreciation for the interconnectedness of our planet and greater environment.
We had a live NASA stream set up in the Cottage, along with a solar-filtered telescope. FSW grandparent and astronomy expert Roger Blake was also on-site to answer questions and to help direct the use of the telescope. The most heard word after gazing through the lens? “Wow.”
Wow, indeed. The wonders of the natural world surely feel quite magical sometimes 🌞🌑✨
