Middle School
A transformative educational landscape that prepares students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Middle School is a pivotal phase in a student’s educational journey to harness intellectual curiosity, social-emotional skills, and leadership qualities. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to challenge and engage students. It blends student-led exploration with scaffolded, thematically integrated instruction across all subjects. Our students delve into a diverse range of topics guided by their own interests, igniting their curiosity and encouraging critical thinking.
One of the hallmarks of our program is the emphasis on experiential service learning. Through community projects, environmental education trips, and regular excursions off campus, our students grow in their understanding of their place in our town, our natural environment, and our global world. These experiences provide them with a broader perspective and encourage them to become active contributors to their communities.
Moreover, we place a strong focus on building students' leadership skills. As they progress through their time at Friends, students are given increasing opportunities to take on leadership roles, particularly within their mixed-age advisory groups. We believe in empowering our students to become confident and capable leaders who can positively influence their peers and the wider community. Together, we transform our educational landscape to prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
