Tuition & Financial Aid
An FSW education is an investment in your child's future.
An independent school education is one of the most important investments you can make for your child. At FSW, students experience an educational program truly committed to nurturing the whole child—one where students are curious, engaged, innovative, motivated, and fully supportive of one another.
We are educational leaders in the Care Fear Region, and for 30 years families have been choosing a Friends School of Wilmington education for their children. Here's why:
- A 7:1 student-teacher ratio means that we foster supportive and trusting relationships between students and teachers. We are lifelong learners, together.
- Average class sizes of 13 (preschool-5th grade) & 18 (6th-8th grade) mean that our teachers truly know their students and tailor the curriculum to best suit the needs and interests of each child.
- Our 3-acre Longleaf Center for Environmental Learning is the ONLY dedicated EE campus in southeast North Carolina, so when we say we're cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards, we mean it.
- 25+ sports teams and club offerings each year mean that there's an enrichment program (or two or three) for every student and every range of interests.
- 16 fine arts offerings mean that students are exposed to a wide breadth of studies and build upon their interest in the arts to develop new skills and passions.
- Our 1:1 peer mentoring system (what we affectionately call "buddies") means that students collaborate across grade levels, learning cooperation and leadership skills in an inclusive, supportive environment.
The Value of an FSW Education
"Joining the Friends family has brought such joy to all of us! Not only does our Kindergartner race to get to school early because it is a place filled with fun and friends, but we as parents feel deeply supported. We chose Friends because we wanted to be part of a community that would see our son as a whole person, and because of that, he has blossomed. So many people have helped make that happen—from the first days of David’s warm and gentle guidance through the admissions process, to the easy laughter of his teachers on his first nervous day at school; Tracy’s daily waves at drop-off, Karen’s wonder for the natural world, and on and on I could go. But a special mention goes out to our fellow parents whose fellowship has brightened our days (and saved our sanity!). Here, we are seen as a whole family too."

"Both of my children started in Stepping Stones and continued through eighth grade. The majority of their teachers are still here and I am proud to call them colleagues. Our teachers are caring, kind, and oh, so smart. They genuinely love their students. My children made "Friends" that have carried on into high school and now college. I also met some of the most outstanding parents that are now my friends as well. I hope you, too, experience how special our school is. Go to the birthday parties, plan beach trips together, visit the aquarium as a class, and have a Dairy Queen after-school treat at least once a month. Your children are just beginning to create childhood friendships that could potentially be for the rest of their lives."

"As I head into my 15th year as FSW, I cannot imagine a better learning environment for my daughter, Lucy. At Friends—even in the early years—students are treated with care and love and seen as the individuals that they are. Lucy has thrived academically as she builds language and math skills, as well as emotionally as she learns to care for herself, her friends, and the natural world around her. I see the impact of her Friends education as she observes butterflies in our garden, checks on her friends if they bump their knee, and asks endless questions with a genuine curiosity for her ever-growing world. I am filled with joy and appreciation as we continue on her learning journey through graduation, class of 2036."

CURRENT PARENT & MIDDLE SCHOOL DIRECTOR
"Growing up Jewish in North Carolina, I never felt fully included. We were definitely in the minority. That's why I am so grateful for attending Friends School of Wilmington from preschool through eighth grade. There, I was exposed to so many different cultural views and values and learned what it truly meant to be part of a community that teaches kindness and integrity. As I begin my next chapter as a college student at the University of Miami, I take my Quaker schooling with me to apply those same values in my daily life."
MADELINE PETERSON
2020 ALUMNA
"What do I appreciate and what drew me to become a part of FSW? The winning combination can be attributed to faculty and staff, families, students, and a common connection to create a learning environment which cultivates creativity, high expectations, empathy, inclusivity and integrity. Friends School of Wilmington is a unique place in which to grow and learn for both adults and children."
