Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to Friends School of Wilmington, a Quaker school that invites each child’s gifts into the learning experience along with each teacher’s passion. Together, these ingredients result in vigorous and joyful learning as we pursue academic and ethical excellence. 

At Friends School, we wear t-shirts that say, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” These words, spoken by Martin Luther King, Jr., are not reserved for one day or one month each year, but are a central part of our ethos in working toward a culture of belonging for all. Quakers call this “the beloved community” and it can only happen when we pursue our mission with courage, integrity, and love.

Accredited by SAIS, Friends School serves children 18 months of age through eighth grade from a broad range of backgrounds. Our students and families are supported by Friends School’s generous financial aid. The school is located on 11 beautiful acres within miles of the beach where outdoor classrooms and our Longleaf Center for Environmental Learning are utilized by students every day.
