Longleaf Center for Environmental Learning

You can support the Longleaf Center by sponsoring a tree with a ribbon of your own. Make a gift of any size towards the Longleaf Center and receive a ribbon (or hemp rope!) to tie around the tree of your choice. The ribbon will also include a reused/recycled card where you can write your family name, message, or dedication and will be proudly displayed before, during and after October 14th. All materials will be environmentally friendly in keeping with the Longleaf standard of environmental sustainability.

Donations can be made at this link. Please be sure to select Longleaf Center for Environmental Education as your designation and choose your ribbon on one of the following days/times:
  • Wednesday, October 12th from 7:45-8:30 and 2:45-3:30
  • Thursday, October 13th from 7:45-8:30 and 2:45-3:30
  • Friday, October 14th from 8:30-10:00

We can also place your ribbon for you. We'll be happy to send you a picture of its location!
Friends School of Wilmington’s already established environmental education program has expanded to now include a new parcel of property right next door to our campus. This additional asset affirms the schools’ dedication and support for environmental learning.

The new area and building will serve as vibrant spaces to conduct an abundance of meaningful lessons and activities. FSW’s intentional efforts to engage the natural world and integrate it as an essential part of the curriculum demonstrates its commitment to extending the walls of the classroom.

We look forward to keeping parents, teachers, students and our local community engaged and informed as we expand this respected program and leverage our new property to benefit our students’ learning experience.
