Jennifer Barfield

Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Joining the Friends School faculty in 2018, Jennifer has a BA in Elementary Education and an MA as a Reading Specialist, K-12, both from UNC-Wilmington. Prior to teaching at FSW, Jennifer was a mentor and instructional coach for beginning teachers at DC Virgo Preparatory and Gregory Elementary. She also facilitated NC Teaching Fellow activities and orientation.

Kindergarten Assistant Teacher

Susan joined the FSW faculty in 2002. Her prior experience included working at the Helen Alice Higgins Montessori School for 5 years in their Stepping Stones Program. During that time, she received her Montessori training certificate and assisted the Kindermusik program.


Katie Robey
Katie Robey
1st Grade Lead Teacher

Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with minors in Film Studies and Anthropology from Wake Forest and earned her MA in Teaching – Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She gained invaluable experience as a lead Kindergarten teacher for six years at the Naval Academy Primary School in Annapolis before joining FSW as a substitute teacher in 2017 and taking the role of 1st grade lead teacher in 2020.

Julie joined the Friends School faculty in 2015 with a BA in Environmental Studies and an NC Environmental Education Certificate. Julie’s son Gabe graduated from FSW in 2019.

Eileen Lozinsky

Eileen earned a B.S. in Sociology from Charleston Southern University and went on to pursue an M.A. in Teaching with a concentration in Emotional and Behavioral Needs from the College of Charleston. Eileen has a passion for connecting students with their inherent gifts and creating a compassionate classroom community. Eileen assumed the role of lead teacher in 2021 after working as an assistant in our Stepping Stones Extended Day Program in 2020.

A graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, Clair earned her M.Ed. in the teaching training program at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She previously taught in Massachusetts, Tennessee, South Korea and Thailand. Clair joined the FSW faculty in 2016.

A native of Wilmington, Julia graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2019 with a B.A. in Economics and completed a Summer Study Abroad program at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She most recently earned her North Carolina Early Childhood Credential, and returned to Wilmington to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching and a career in education. Julia joined FSW's faculty in 2021.

Angelica graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pedagogy Studies from Eastern Carolina University and earned her MA in Teaching – Elementary Education from UNCW. While in graduate school, she was the secretary of the Black Graduate and Professional Students Association. Angelica gained valuable experience working as lead teacher in both the 4th and 5th grades in Jacksonville and Wallace, NC before joining FSW’s faculty in 2020.

Angelica Liz graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Women's Studies and moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career in democratic politics and progressive advocacy. Liz worked for several organizations including the Children's Defense Fund and the AFL-CIO. Over the past 20 years, Liz has lived in Denmark, Serbia, Lithuania, and Israel where she worked in the library at the American International School of Israel. Liz joined the faculty in 2021.

With six years of Lead Teaching experience and a specialty in the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP) at Columbia University, Corrie joined the FSW faculty in 2019. She has an MA in Teaching from the University of Southern California and a BS in Agricultural Engineering from Virginia Tech.
