Head of School
Brenda received an MS in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Religious Studies from Guilford College. In between she completed graduate coursework in Counseling at the Earlham School of Religion and participated in Friends Council on Education's Leadership Institute. Brenda served as Head of School at Greenwood Friends School from 2008-2012 and, prior to that, was a teacher for 13 years. Brenda joined the Friends School of Wilmington community in 2012.
Lower School Director
Certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Sarah earned an MA in Elementary Education from Lesley University and a BS in Education, Early Childhood, from the University of Georgia. Sarah joined the FSW faculty in 2017 as the Lead Teacher in 1st grade. She moved into her current administrative role in 2020.
Middle School Director
Amy earned her MS in Art Education from the Rochester Institute of Technology and her BS in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children from New York State University. Previously, she taught K–5 Art in Wake County at Olive Chapel Elementary and 2-3 year olds in a Raleigh preschool. Amy joined FSW in 2011. Amy was a member of the Friends Council Leadership Institute's 2017-19 cohort and began her current role in 2020.
Marla joined the FSW Administrative Team in 2018. Marla previously served as Head of Friends School of Charlotte (NC) during which time she and her staff joined FSW for summer training in the Responsive Classroom social curriculum. Marla was also on FSW’s Board of Trustees, serving as Clerk of the Finance Committee.
Director of Communications
Cameron earned an MS in Education and a BA in History from the University of Tennessee. He joined the faculty at FSW in 2003 teaching Middle School Social Studies and joined the Administrative Team in 2012. After serving as the Director of Student and Academic Life, he moved into his current role in 2020.
Director of Admissions
David earned a BS in Business Administration from Penn State and a BA from La Roche College in Graphic Design. He moved to Wilmington in 2001 and joined FSW in September 2013 as the Pine Grove Campus Administrative Assistant. In July 2018, David was appointed Director of Admissions.
Allyson graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Business Administration and later earned her M.A. in Teaching. She has worked as a teacher in independent schools in Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina. Allyson’s understanding of working in schools combined with her educational experience in business administration makes her an asset to the Development team at FSW. She joined the staff in 2021.
Administrative & Admissions Assistant
Theresa Schroeder attended NC State University, obtaining an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, and earned a Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is also a Registered Dietitian. In her free time, Theresa enjoys reading and running. Theresa currently has two children enrolled at Friends School of Wilmington. She joined the Administrative Staff at Friends in July of 2021.
Jason and his wife own Sea Love Sea Salt Company, and have two students at FSW. Jason joined the staff as Facilities Manager in the spring of 2020.
Business Office Assistant
Nancy earned a B.S in Education from Temple University and taught high school English teacher before moving to California and working as a free-lance writer. Nancy joined FSW as an assistant teacher in 3rd grade in 2014, moving to the Stepping Stones class in 2016 and assuming her current role in 2021.
Interim Director of Auxiliary Programs
Mitch has worked with children in some capacity for over 50 years starting as a Counselor in Training at a summer day camp and over the years working as a Physical Education Coordinator, sports skills instructor, Summer Camp Director/Sports Camp Director at organizations like the YMCA, Parks and Recreation Dept. and private recreation facilities.
He most recently worked at Westtown School, a private Quaker school serving students K-12 in West Chester, PA. Mitch coordinated the Work Program and Service for the Upper School and was the CIT Coordinator.
