Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Request Information
Interested to see what makes Friends School of Wilmington a unique learning environment? Submit a New Student Inquiry Form. We will promptly contact you to answer any questions you may have and schedule a campus tour.
Step 2: Begin Online Application
Create an online FSW account. Once logged in, choose "Create A New Student Application." You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account to edit your open application.
For students ages 4-2nd Grade ONLY
We request a writing/drawing sample of student work to include in the application materials. Students may use the space to draw a picture and then write a caption or story (if able). Imaginative drawing and story telling are encouraged!
For students grades 3rd-8th ONLY
We are interested in learning as much as we can about your child--in their own words--on this questionnaire. Students should write freely and in their own handwriting.
Step 3: Send Recommendation Form to Current Teacher
Submit the Teacher Recommendation Form to your child's current school and/or instructor. They will return the completed document to us directly.
For Current NHCS Families
New Hanover County Schools does not permit teachers to complete external recommendation forms. If your child is CURRENTLY ENROLLED in New Hanover County Schools, please contact our Director of Admissions, David Hoolahan, for alternative options.
Step 4: Send Release of Records Authorization Form to Current School
Submit the Release of Records Authorization to your child's current school. They will return the completed document to us directly.
For Current NHCS Families
If your child is CURRENTLY ENROLLED in New Hanover County Schools, we will complete this step on your behalf. You do not need to submit this form.
Step 5: Student Admissions Visit
Once the application is complete, the Director of Admissions will contact the parent/guardian to schedule a student admissions visit.
Step 6: Receive Admissions Decision
Following the admissions visit, the Admissions Committee will meet to thoughtfully discuss the applicant's admissions visit and review documentation. The Director of Admissions will notify the parent/guardian of an admission decision within one week.
