This camp will provide chess lessons adapted to your student's age and chess level. In this camp, your child will learn the basics of chess, openings, and strategy. Beginning with free play to evaluate familiarity and comfort level, we will layer in skills and work with kids to learn to apply them to gameplay. Next, variant games are a great way to keep learners interested through fun and playful games. Throughout this program, we will work with your child to connect chess concepts so they internalize the game's rules and overarching framework. Total beginners will have a blast without chess experience. Advanced chess wizards will develop a deeper understanding of the game. Everyone will graduate with knowledge and joy for the game.

Young drafters will be introduced to both mechanical and architectural drafting basics. This will include hand-drafting, the use of drafting tools, spatial thinking, and attention to detail. The camp will be fully packed with fun activities that will give your child an opportunity to learn traditional drafting practices, drawing in scale, basic lettering, line weights, standard graphic notations, dimensions, and annotations. By the end of the camp, your inspiring architects will be able to make technical drawings, some graphic art, read and scale drawings, as well as draw an object that is described with two or three views; select the proper drawing scale, views, and layout; draw an object that has an inclined surface; draw an object containing circles and arcs; correctly identify views of an object; create orthographic and isometric projections utilizing the necessary views.

Outdoor playtime in water and mud with Kindergarten teacher Jenny! We will be creating mud kitchen recipes, playing in the sprinkler and with water balloons, experimenting with bubbles, paint, and playdoh! All outdoor messy fun! Campers need a snack, reusable water bottle, change of clothes and towel and must wear dri-fit clothing (no bathing suits) and close-toed shoes they can easily take on and off.

Fun with Flag Football will cover the basics of flag football to route running, defensive formations, and teamwork. All skill levels are welcome. Players will get to participate and leave with some football knowledge. There will be a combination of classroom work and field time to help all players understand concepts and plays. The final day will include a game-style scrimmage! Projects may include painting self-portraits on canvas, building art “robots “ from found objects, designing “monster” pillows, making faux stained glass vinyl window art, learning mono-printing and so much more! Brooks Koff, just like her art, is a tapestry of color! Her work has been featured in many local magazines, like Wilma, Wrightsville Beach Magazine, Salt, and Haven (the Bald Head Island Magazine), as well as highlighted on a nationally syndicated PBS show. You can find her pieces in Wilmington’s local gallery and online at Art In Bloom.

This is a wonderful camp for children who get excited about math and for those who are unsure or hesitant when it comes to math.

You’ll create a business plan, enlist friends and family, and set up everything you need to be a junior entrepreneur: a first email address, a basic app or website, and a presentation. Ultimately, you’ll share your idea with friends and family, work hard to get a first customer, and present all your progress to the whole camp!
